Millie Bobby Brown quit Twitter after being targeted by trolls

Actress Millie Bobby Brown attends The 2018 PaleyFest screening of Netflix's "Stranger Things" at the Dolby Theater on March 25, 2018, in Hollywood.

Millie Bobby Brown has apparently deleted her Twitter account after being the subject of a series of vile, homophobic memes.

Now that it's Pride Month, it seems as though the memes have resurfaced so that some can get a laugh at the expense of the 14-year-old.

It is not clear why she was targeted.

Numerous tweets were linked to the hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown, which was first created by Twitter user @KelsFiona in November 2017. It's uncertain how the memes first surfaced, but several Twitter users posted tweets that portrayed her in a negative light. The reason behind the creation of these memes in the first place remains somewhat mysterious, but several Twitter users claimed that they were made by members of the LGBTQ community and were meant to be an inside joke. Because of the despicable content of the memes, we will not be showing any of them in this post, though some on Twitter have said they originated as a "joke". Brown only deleted her main Twitter account.

It was definitely a shock for her many followers considering that the celeb has been very active on social media lately.

How'd it happen? Last year, she hit the red carpet with pins in support of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), a move that homophobic social media users did not like. The last tweet is from December 12, 2017. Sadly, she's not the first young actress to make this decision recently either. To-date, he has also remained mum about Brown's Twitter exodus.
