The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas on Tuesday said those charged include Jorge Luis Monsivais Jr., 20, of Eagle Pass, Texas, the driver of the 2007 Suburbanthat crashed near the town of Big Wells on Sunday, killing five people. The sport utility vehicle skidded off the road and then attempted to get back onto the highway, but the driver overcorrected and the vehicle flipped over, ejecting several people, Boyd said.

Authorities said his SUV was part of a three vehicle caravan, carrying at least 21 people from Mexico and two people from Honduras.

He says at the time of the pursuit the deputy did not know if the driver of the SUV had committed a crime, only that they were evading Border Patrol.

Boyd credited "good police work" for the reason why deputies started pursuing the vehicle, News 4 San Antonio reported, adding that Boyd said human smuggling was a "real problem" in the area. Investigators say Monsivais was traveling more than 100 miles per hour on Texas Highway 85, before losing control and overturning the vehicle.

Dimmit County Sheriff Marion Boyd said Sunday that four victims were dead at the scene of the crash, and most of the occupants in the SUV were believed to be in the country without legal permission.

Democratic Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico said the location was a former hospital converted into living quarters for children, with rooms divided by age group.

Of the 23 illegal aliens involved in this scheme, 21 are Mexican nationals and two are Honduran nationals.

"I'm doing all right, I'm just a little sore, really", Remes said Friday.

On June 17, U.S. Border Patrol agents initiated immigration inspections on three vehicles - a 2013 Tahoe, a 2007 Suburban, and a 2008 Tahoe - traveling in a convoy on FM 2644 between El Indio and Carrizo Springs. "This is why we need more Republicans elected in November." - tweet Saturday.
