Melania Trump Wears Tone-Deaf 'I Really Don't Care' Jacket During Border Trip

The first lady's visit comes as President Donald Trump's administration has separated members of families that cross USA borders illegally, sending thousands of children to holding camps around the country.

What will happen to the separated children who are now in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)? Six of them were separated from their parents upon crossing the border, authorities told reporters.

Thursday's visit was one of two that the president's wife made to the Texas facilities where some of the more than 2,300 migrant children are being housed after their families entered the US illegally.

"She wanted to send a message".

The political compromise the first lady had sought has not materialized so far.

When it says "I really don't care, do u?" and is worn by First Lady Melania Trump on a surprise visit to a Texas shelter for illegal immigrant children, driving the media insane.

"'Melania Trump" wore jacket with "I really don't care' on back".

Despite severe criticism online, Melania's spokesman Stephanie Grisham insisted there was no hidden message behind the jacket.

Post her visit to Texas immigration centre, Melania tweeted, "Today's visit to #Texas to spend time with children & thank the many hardworking individuals helping to care for them was very meaningful".

In response to the outrage, her spokeswoman said, "It's a jacket".

Stipulating that fashion is a form of expression, and someone like the First Lady has an entire sartorial team at her disposal (to say nothing of her fashion designer step-daughter), the answer, of course, is that her $39 fuckboi-in-the-suburbs jacket was a deliberate move.

Mixed in with the drama was the first lady's wardrobe.

Herself an immigrant, Melania, who was born in Slovenia, had earlier this week urged President Trump that she "hates to see children separated from their families".

"I am speechless. Melania Trump wore a jacket emblazoned with the saying 'I really don't care, do you?' when she left for Texas this morning", one Twitter user slammed.

During her visit, she spoke alternately in English and through an interpreter, asking individual children in three classrooms where they were from.

"So in the very beginning, I started interviewing people for the role".

The family separations controversy blew up last week amid images of children wailing and in cages.

The photos show the children all smiles while meeting Melania, who wore tight white jeans and white trainers with the changed jacket.
