FC Barcelona Announce Signing Of Brazilian

Malcom had been linked with Everton and Inter Milan but Roma announced yesterday they had agreed a deal with Bordeaux worth 40m euros for the Brazilian.

Barcelona made contact with Bordeaux following the failure to sign Brazil global Willian from Chelsea and, according to Italian media reports, made a bid larger than the reported fee of 38 million euros ($44.4 million) struck with Roma.

Malcom agreed a five-year deal to move to the Camp Nou, with a release clause expected to be fixed at €400m.

"The player will sign with the Club for the next five seasons, until the end of the 2022/23 season".

Roma have now been informed that he wishes to join Barca.

In a statement on the website the club announced, "FC Barcelona and Girondins de Bordeaux have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira".

The Brazilian, who can play as a winger or attacking midfielder, will undergo a medical on Wednesday before being unveiled as Barcelona's third signing of the summer.

He will now, though, become Barcelona's second major signing of the summer window following the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla . He will immediately fly out to the United States to link up with his new teammates for the International Champions Cup once his medical is complete.

Malcom, yet to be capped at senior level by Brazil, scored 20 goals and set up another 13 in 84 Ligue 1 games following his 2016 move from Corinthians.
