Chelsea lead the chase for Zaha

Zaha could have been seen as a direct replacement for Willian, the Brazil global has been heavily linked with a departure from Chelsea this summer.

The 25-year-old has already told team-mates he is set on leaving Selhurst Park and has already rejected the offer of a new contract worth €140,000-per week, reports claim.

In part, that is because Zaha could be reluctant to move north again after his failed stint at Manchester United following his move there in 2013.

Maurizio Sarri is due to sit down with Chelsea chiefs to discuss potential signings ahead of this week's transfer deadline and the Crystal Palace star will be top of the agenda.

But, Chelsea face an uphill task in their bid to sign Zaha in time before the English transfer window closes on August 9. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also weighing up a move for the player, although Palace are reportedly confident of keeping hold of him.

Hodgson, the veteran Crystal Palace chief, meanwhile, is confident about retaining Zaha for the upcoming term and shared what he discussed with the dynamic attacker recently.

That deal would have increased his wage to £125,000 per week, but Zaha is well aware that he could earn significantly more at Stamford Bridge.

But, Chelsea will hope to seal the deal when they table their late offer for the Ivory Coast worldwide.

The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we'll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe.
