Initially all looked rosy at Old Trafford, as United's encouraging start saw it go ahead through captain Pogba, but thereafter Leicester was the controlling force in the first period.

Jose Mourinho hailed captain Paul Pogba's willingness to put his body on the line to lead Manchester United to a winning start in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Friday.

José Mourinho appeared to take aim at Ed Woodward, Manchester United's executive vice-chairman, for not sanctioning all of his transfer targets, with the manager saying maybe his title should be downgraded to "head coach".

His message sparked a flurry of tweets from United fans looking for hidden meanings, with some seeking reassurance that the player was settled at Old Trafford and not likely to jump ship to Barcelona.

But there is something brewing behind the scenes and there has been for some time after Mourinho left Pogba out of the team on multiple occasions last season and publicly criticized him.

Other fans were not so sympathetic. But Leicester did not give up, creating a few great chances, but an inspired David De Gea did well to help his team to the three points. "But he just lifts it over [Leicester goalkeeper] Kasper Schmeichel and when you do that in the upper part of the net keepers never get them".

"I think Mr [Richard] Scudamore must be happy because it's a good way to start the Premier League".

Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who works for Sky Sports as a pundit, reckons it is a shrewd move from the Special One.

Leicester forced attack after attack, but each one failed to bring the foxes equal. In his debut in the Premier League, youngster James Maddison, who signed this summer from Norwich city, looked very impressive. But the players gave everything, they gave what they had.

He added: "We play against a team that invest more than us".

Pogba was not the only United player to impress me.

That's football, that's football management, and I think football is changing and probably football managers should be called head coaches.

And I was delighted for Luke Shaw to get his first goal in senior football.
