United have got off to a ropy start to the Premier League season since, conceding seven goals in their opening three games.

Burnley will have a quick turnaround after dropping out of the Europa League with a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Olympiakos on Thursday night, but Sean Dyche preferred to focus on the positives from the Clarets' first European campaign in 51 years, ahead of a tough challenge from United on Sunday.

He was similarly defiant when asked if that would still apply if he failed to win the championship with United.

Mourinho has come under pressure after United suffered back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur, which leaves the side in 13th position in the English top flight. It was United's highest finish (2nd) and best points tally (81) since Sir Alex Ferguson retired - it was also a tally that would have won the Premier League title in 2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15 and 2015/16.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign defensive reinforcements this summer but moves for Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina, Jerome Boateng and Diego Godin all fell through.

The Portuguese mentor stormed out of his post-match press conference following the 3-0 defeat to Spurs at Old Trafford on Monday, and claimed he deserved more respect for his title wins while at Chelsea. I also had last season great success.

"They're one of the biggest teams in the world, I'd say, and look at teams like Tottenham and Liverpool who aren't blessed with a lorry-load of money, and look at the players they've bought".

Jose Mourinho says Alexis Sanchez will use the upcoming global break to help lift Manchester United's season.

"They don't hide", he said admiringly, having previously gone public with his own disappointment at United's failure to land more than one of his transfer targets.

"He's played three very good matches and that's not easy to do when your team loses two of them. So we have picked up experience from that", he added, saying the challenge of travelling to Europe and then preparing for Premier League football at the weekend was a tough one.
