Nana Patekar laughs off sexual harassment allegations by Tanushree Dutta

Bollywood is running divided right now amidst the harassment allegations that actress Tanushree Dutta has levelled against senior actor Nana Patekar.

Tanushree has alleged that Nana asked choreographer Ganesh Acharya to include new dance steps in the song so that he could touch her inappropriately. While shrugging off the allegations, Nana Patekar asked, "What do you mean sexual harassment? There were 50-100 people on set with me [at that time]..." The 67-year-old star also said that he is pondering over taking a legal course against her.

In a recent interview, Tanushree Dutta spoke about the #MeToo movement in Bollywood highlighting her personal experience. I don't want them to work.

"I want to take names - actor Nana Patekar, producer Sami Siddiqui, director Rakesh Sarang, and choreographer Ganesh Acharya. It was supposed to be a solo sequence of mine", the actress said.

A bold Tanushree says how leading ladies in films are roped in by the lead Hero and not casting director on the basis of sexual favors she can afford to do. How do I know why she is saying this?

An eyewitness Janice Sequeira has come forward in support of the actress now.

Over 24 hours after the controversy surfaced, Bollywood has greeted Tanushree's story with a resounding silence. "Akshay Kumar has made a few films with Nana Patekar in last eight years and Rajinikanth also recently worked with him (in Kaala)... He got the job because of me and he chose to back stab me, of course he will support him (Nana Patekar) as he was equally complicit in the harassment". You must not work with people who harass girls. "Will anybody take advantage in front of 400 people?" he questioned.

Patekar, who had denied the claims at a press conference when Dutta raised the issue in 2008, remained unreachable despite several attempts to contact him for his version of what had happened. "But if something has happened, it is always sad and people should investigate", he stated. He said that "something" did happen that day because the "shooting was stalled" because of some "misunderstanding". Her vehicle was attacked, the windshield broken.

However, Aamir Khan gave a very balanced reply and said, "Well, I think without knowing the veracity of something, or the details of something, I don't think I can comment on it".
