United's winless run stretched to four games, following their 0-0 draw with the LaLiga club in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Admitting he too was at fault for United's poor start to the season, Mourinho took some responsibility for backfiring tactics and team selection which he had previously defended adamantly.

United's upcoming fixtures are even more hard compared to the ones they've faced so far and things could quickly get ugly.

"People can say what they like, especially Manchester United supporters, because I respect their point of view".

"We knew we would not create 20 chances". "We tried everything, but we were informed that the police had refused to give us an escort to the game so we were late". We tried to play but in some crucial phases we didn't have the technical quality to build from the back.

"We knew that our attacking players aren't in the best individual form and confidence".

On Tuesday night, Scholes used his pundit role during BT Sport's build-up for the Valencia match to launch another tirade at the under-fire United manager.

United are up against Juventus in their next two Champions League games, as they will host the Italian giants on October 23 before the reverse fixture in Turin on Nov 7.

"GMP has previously used police vehicles to accompany a team's coach but after a review of our core policing responsibilities, it was decided that we would no longer provide this service at every fixture".

Mourinho must now galvanise his squad for a home clash against Newcastle on Saturday, which is a must-win game for the 13-time Premier League champions if they are to re-invigorate any sort of title challenge.
