The best online games for co-op and versus multiplayer

Nintendo Switch Online just went live earlier this week, but it has already been hacked.

Online Play: Nintendo Switch Online allows players to engage in competitive or cooperative gameplay with people around the world in many current and upcoming games like Splatoon 2, Arms, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party and Super Smash Bros.

The Nintendo Switch Online FAQ page has revealed one small peculiarly with the service, however. Ultimate. As a reminder, players won't automatically become Nintendo Switch Online members when the service starts, so they will need to purchase an Individual or Family Membership to avoid disruption of their online play in compatible games. There is one caveat though; if you're busy playing a game on one console, and somebody plays the same game on another, the game will pause. This makes game play possible on the Nintendo Switch that was previously only possible on the NES classic or the reboot of the machine. However, there are some games that don't require a paid subscription to play online, most notably Fortnite: Battle Royale.

A family membership is also available for $34.99 Dollars that allows up to eight Nintendo Account holders to access Nintendo's new service.

Today the Nintendo will shut down the Nintendo Switch eShop starting at 5 pm PT. Once that trial is donezo you can spend $3.99, $7.99, or $19.99 for one, three, or 12 months respectively (you can also apply Gold Coins to your balance).

Whatever the reason for the oversight, the mechanism is simple: it seems that the Switch Online NES emulator uses the same software as the NES Classic Edition, which means the same exploits work. Right now there's 20 games available with online play enabled. Throughout the trailer we are also introduced "Toad's Rec Room", within this game mode players will have the option of combining two Nintendo Switch screens to enjoy some cross system mayhem. You'll be the first to hear about the stuff we review. This does not drive our decision as to whether or not a product is featured or recommended. Want to get in touch?
