November 25, 2018 (EIRNS)-At the request of the South Korean government, the UN Security Council and its sanctions committee have granted a sanctions waiver to a joint survey by North and South Korea on the reconnection of their railways, according to diplomatic sources cited by South Korean Yonhap news agency. -North Korea dialogue would resume once the UN Security Council gave South Korea the green light last week to survey sections of the North's railroads that are to be repaired and connected with the South.

Negotiations over denuclearization hit an impasse when North Korea abruptly called off a meeting planned with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the last minute early this month.

Meanwhile, the White House said Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Moon on the sidelines of a Group of 20 summit in Argentina this week.

"The US is trying to draw concessions from us in talks and even to accomplish a wicked anti-republic plot", the Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the North's ruling party, said in a commentary.

The chemicals to control pine tree diseases are not subject to UNSC sanctions on the North, it said.
