DeRozan records 1st career triple-double in blowout of Raptors

"It's a waste of our time".

Leonard played 7 seasons with the Spurs before forcing his way out of San Antonio in a trade that brought DeRozan and Jakob Poeltl from Toronto.

The only person at the AT&T Center having a worse time than Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night was likely his mother, Kim.

Any problems Gregg Popovich and Kawhi Leonard may have had appear to be in the past.

Maybe we should have seen this coming.

Following the matchup in which Leonard struggled and the Spurs were able to come away with a convincing 125-107 victory, Popovich wasn't happy about the reception his former star player received. "Who raised you? God got us!"

Popovich said he viewed Leonard's return as "any other team, player", and has no regrets how his tenure in San Antonio ended. "This one is gonna be cool too to have Kawhi, and obviously Danny back". He kind of got in some situations where he was seeing a lot of bodies thrown at him and he wasn't used to our offence and where our guys were, and kind of smoothed through that as well. [It] felt like they've both grown up here.

While others went as far as straight-up hoping for DeMar to go full savage mode and have a monster night against Toronto despite their Raptors fandom.

"Give me some popcorn, I just want to watch it", Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge joked with a San Antonio TV station this week. "He's been a great teammate, a great friend to me, he deserves that".

I'm sure Leonard is relieved that this game is over so he can move on with his season, and turn his focus towards championship basketball.

The San Antonio faithful also booed him loudly during warmups. 'Media does a great mind to stir people's minds and to influence them to think a certain way. "That's what I hope, that's what I expect". "That's what I expect".

This was Kawhi's first contest back after he was traded to Toronto in the summer.

DeRozan, who is averaging 22.9 points, indicated he likely will feel different when he returns to Toronto as a visiting player for the first time on Feb 22. "So I would imagine that he'll have a really good chance of handling it". So you end up doing a lot of self-evaluation and self-reflection when circumstances change.

Both players logged at least seven seasons with the Spurs before being traded.
