Captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will take turns building their roster in a televised draft that will air live on TNT at 6:00 PM CST.

"As a global celebration of basketball, our All-Star Game is an ideal setting to salute these first-class NBA champions and Finals MVPs", Silver said in a statement. The pair of future Hall-of-Famers will suit up in the All-Star Game on February 17 in Charlotte, playing for either Team LeBron or Team Giannis.

The 2019 NBA All-Star Game will be played Sunday, Feb. 17, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As the top overall vote-getter, James will get the first pick, then Antetokounmpo and James will alternate selections.

There will be at least one injury substitute named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, since Pacers guard Oladipo suffered a season-ending leg injury recently.

Nowitzki, a 13-time NBA All-Star, ranks seventh on the NBA all-time points list with 31,275 and ranks first among players from outside the United States. Wade is now on a farewell tour around the league as he will retire after the season.

The New Zealand centre has been putting up career-best numbers this season in several categories, averaging career highs in points per game (15.4), rebounds per game (10.0), assists per game (1.8) and steals per game (1.5).

"He's proven game in and game out that he's an All-Star type player".

Nowitzki was already going to have a big role in All-Star weekend, after agreeing to be an honorary coach in the Rising Stars game on Friday night and the skills competition as part of All-Star Saturday Night. He was also the 2006 NBA Finals MVP and 2008-09 scoring champion.
