Kings Acquire Forward Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes and the rest of the NBA received a strong reminder that basketball is a business on Wednesday when the Dallas Mavericks forward was shipped to the Sacramento Kings while he was still on the court.

Both teams are in a fight for the eighth and final playoff spot in the NBA's Western Conference with Sacramento 1 game back and Dallas 4 back of the Los Angeles Clippers.

James went on to write that he saw a double standard with how people react to players changing teams in free agency or requesting trades - often calling them selfish - compared to their reactions when franchises ship out their own players.

Barnes was traded for Kings forwards Zach Randolph and Justin Jackson.

As the Lakers struggle to facilitate a trade for wantaway New Orleans Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis, James discussed the mid-game deal involving Barnes on Instagram.

"I had a chance to speak to him before everyone got in the locker room [after the game] and thanked him for over two-and-a-half great years of being a model pro and being one of the most improved players in the game".

"Just call a spade a spade!"

After the game, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle thanked Barnes in front of the team for "being the model professional and a great example".

The Kings have been active in the lead-up to the deadline, also agreeing Wednesday to acquire Alec Burks from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-way deal with the Houston Rockets.

"I am going to miss him an bad lot", Carlisle said. Barnes had 10 points in the game. I think everybody knows how close we were.

The trade deadline has, somehow, still not passed.
