EA has shared an update tonight on the issues, which first started being reported over the weekend.

In a post on EA's website, the publisher said that it is now looking into problems with Anthem on PS4 but has yet to be able to determine the root cause.

Hold down the power button for several seconds until it beeps twice. "Took me five minutes", one redditor described.

"And I do it each time Anthem makes my PS4 crash". I have literally never seen this happen with any game on Xbox before, and thought it was freaky, but didn't think too much of it until I saw what a widespread problem it apparently was. Oddly enough, these issues seem to be now only on PS4 and not PC or Xbox One. Whatever the cause, there's now a long list of tweets at the AskPlaystation Twitter account asking for refunds due to the issue. "We're investigating and ask that you share your crash data reports when prompted".

The same console crashing issues have been reported on EA's official Anthem Answers HQ.

If a PS4 console has been "Bricked" that would mean enough damage had been done to render it useless and be unable to turn back on.

Over on Reddit, there are several threads that see both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players reporting that Anthem causes their entire console to crash - with many reporting the crash issue has occurred a few times.

This situation is similar to that of No Man's Sky when a huge amount of refunds were issued to Sony for being a defective game, and quite right fully so, Anthem seems to be heading in the same direction. Unsurprisingly, those whose consoles are now expensive paperweights are advising people not to play the game.

It's the equivalent of outright pulling the plug from the console. This means that a console crashes so hard that it no longer works, making it, effectively, a very expensive brick. Not only are there game crashes, but some bugs can even crash the system itself.

"Then once the OS loads it displays a system error reporting page to send the error to Sony".
