Celtics' Smart could miss 2 playoff rounds

The Celtics were in a similar position a season ago when they went the first four games of the 2018 Playoffs without their defensive-minded guard.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Celtics" guard Marcus Smart suffered a torn oblique and "could be sidelined for the first two rounds of the playoffs'.

This past Saturday, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum left early during his team's loss against the Orlando Magic as a result of a shin contusion and proceeded to miss the rest of that game and the final game of the regular season.

Stevens revealed that Smart was walking around in the locker room after the game, but the team has now confirmed that he suffered a partial avulsion of his left oblique abdominal muscle of his iliac crest that will keep him out for at least four to six weeks. Boston would add that contact with Magic center Nikola Vucevic, who's listed at 7-foot-0, 260 pounds, midway through the third quarter of Sunday's contest is what led to Smart's injury.

Look for Jaylen Brown or Gordon Hayward to fill his spot in the starting lineup for the time-being with an increased role from reserve guard Terry Rozier off the bench.

Will he be ready for the postseason, which is approaching this weekend? "At this rate, (I'm) feeling a lot better".

The Celtics are scheduled to practice again Thursday.

"(I'm) not trying to rush anything", Tatum said.

The Celtics are locked in as the Eastern Conference's fourth seed and will face the Pacers in the first round.
