Tornado watches are already in place across parts of the region and the potent storm system has already been producing strong tornadoes in eastern Texas.

National Weather Service meteorologist John Moore said a possible twister touched down Saturday in the Vicksburg, Miss., area.

The Robertson County Sheriff's Office said that the tornado was spotted near FM 485, 1644, and FM 46. No injuries were reported, but officials reported damage to several businesses and vehicles. Most of our area is under a Slight Risk (2 out 5) for severe storms.

The weather service also says preliminary information showed an EF-3 tornado with winds of 140 mph touched down in Franklin, located about 125 miles (200 kilometers) south of Dallas.

Two children, ages 3 and 8, were killed in eastern Texas when a tree fell on the vehicle in which they were traveling. Damaging winds, Tornadoes, Hail and brief Heavy rain can be expected in some storms.

Trees were pulled up by the roots, roofs were torn off buildings and the cinderblock foundation was all that was left of a mobile home in the town, which is southeast of Waco.

The tornado threat will be lower by then, but damaging winds could still present hazardous conditions.

Authorities said 13-year-old Sebastian Omar Martinez drowned in a drainage canal after flash flooding struck Bawcomville, near Monroe, said Deputy Glenn Springfield of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department.

Both Franklin and a neighboring town lost electricity as a result of the storm, leaving 3,088 customers without power on Sunday, reported CNN.

Heavy rains and storms continued to rake the Magnolia State into the night, moving into Alabama.

They expect a round of storms in the afternoon or early evening hours, though forecasters said it may not bring severe weather.

"It looks like a storm came up through Louisiana and into MS and exploded in Monroe County", Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told CNN.

Suspected tornadoes also were reported overnight in various parts of Alabama, including Highland Lakes, Greystone and American Village in Shelby County and lake Purdy at Grants in Jefferson County.
